WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOSHOOT

Ah, it’s family portrait season, and you don’t know what to wear. Here are a few wardrobe color palates that I absolutely love and that might just strike up some inspiration for your family portrait session.

COORDINATING IS BETTER THAN MATCHING

As you start to plan outfits for your family portrait session, keep in mind that you want to wear clothing that flatters you and shows your personality. Choose outfits true to each person in your family, but be sure it's coordinating for the group!

CONSIDER THE WEATHER

Especially if there are little ones involved, keep comfort in mind when selecting outfits. Remember that our summers can stretch into October and the evenings can be warm. If it's chilly out, consider wearing layers.

THINK ABOUT WHAT MAKES YOUR FAMILY UNIQUE

When shopping for a family portrait wardrobe, think about how your family wants to be represented in your photos. Is it simple, fresh, and modern? Is it formal and classic? Is it organic and playful? Consider how you want to be portrayed in your portraits and what emotions the viewer should feel when looking at them.

THINK ABOUT THE COLORS IN YOUR HOME

If you’re like me, you’ll want to enjoy your photos for years to come. You may want to consider coordinating your clothing with the colors in your home. Your family photos will compliment the decor with complementary colors.

I hope these tips have given you some ideas on what to wear for your family portraits. Remember that the most important thing is to have fun and feel great! The more comfortable everyone feels the better pictures will be.
