A Relaxed In-Home Newborn Session in Murrieta
I love photographing newborns in their own homes. There's no packing up the baby, no rushing to get out the door, and everything we need is usually just a few steps away.
For this lifestyle newborn session in Murrieta, we spent our time photographing this sweet little baby with Mom and Dad, using the nursery, bedroom, and other comfortable spaces around their home.
And of course, the family dog made an appearance too!
Newborn Photography in the Comfort of Your Own Home
One of the things I enjoy about lifestyle newborn photography is getting to use the spaces a family has already made their own.
This nursery was so pretty, with its soft neutral colors, natural window light, and all those little details waiting for their newest family member.
We started with some portraits in the nursery chair, including Mom holding her baby and Dad joining them. I love including both parents because these early family portraits are just as important as the individual photos of the baby.
And when we're photographing in your home, we can take our time. If the baby needs to eat, be changed, or just wants to be held for a little while, that's perfectly fine.
All Those Sweet Little Newborn Details
We also made sure to photograph the baby on his own.
I loved the little cream-colored knit outfit, especially against the warm, neutral colors of the nursery. We photographed the baby in the crib, up close, and resting comfortably on the bed.
These are some of my favorite photographs to include in a newborn gallery. Those tiny hands, little expressions, and all the details that change so quickly during the first few weeks.
I also love how the crib photographs show a little bit of the nursery. Years from now, these parents will be able to look back and remember what that room looked like when their baby first came home.
Your Pets Are Part of the Family Too
I always love when families want to include their pets in their portraits.
This family's dog was right there with everyone, and we even got a sweet photograph of the baby sleeping beside their furry family member.
One of the nice things about an in-home newborn session is that pets can participate for a few photographs and then go right back to relaxing in their favorite spot.
We can keep things comfortable for everyone, including the dog!
What to Expect During an In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session
If you're wondering how a lifestyle newborn session works, it's really pretty simple.
I'll look around your home for the areas with the nicest natural light. Often that's the nursery, the primary bedroom, or the living room. You don't need a perfectly decorated house, and we certainly don't need to photograph every room.
We'll spend time getting photographs of the baby alone, with each parent, and everyone together.
I give direction when it's needed, so you don't have to figure out what to do with your hands or where to sit. But I also like to step back for the little interactions that happen naturally.
Some of my favorite portraits from this session are the parents simply holding their baby, looking down at that little face, or cuddling together on the bed.
I also love that we were able to photograph the baby awake and asleep. Those wide-eyed newborn expressions are every bit as sweet as the sleepy ones!
