I had the location all scouted out — tall grass swaying in the breeze, wildflowers popping up in just the right spots. Basically photographer heaven.

But as we wrapped up inside, I peeked out the window and saw what looked like the opening scene of a disaster movie. Dark clouds were rolling in FAST. A few minutes later, the sky opened up and gave us one of the craziest lightning storms I’ve ever seen in my life — and I’ve lived in Murrieta forever. I normally check the weather before a shoot, and for some reason,n I just didn't on this day. So the storm was a surprise to me!

We stood at the door watching lightning dance across the sky like it was a fireworks show. Svetlana and I both looked at each other and said, “Yeah, no outdoor shots today.”

A few days later, the clouds cleared, and the universe served us up a chef’s kiss golden hour. We met at the same field in Murrieta, and I’m telling you — it was worth the wait.
